2022 Collaboration.

Terrain Landscape Architecture is pleased to announce the beginning of a new chapter in our studio’s story. Starting in 2022, Terrain will collaborate with April Phillips Design Works, Inc (APDW) to further promote our firm’s mission of creating sustainable landscapes, building stronger communities, and designing to promote the natural systems surrounding our built environments.

Over the past two years, we have all faced titanic changes to our lives. As a result, Terrain has had to rethink the office and reconfigure our studio’s physical and digital space. Creating new design systems has resulted in an area that fuels our creativity, establishes better connections, and foments collaboration between disciplines. Terrain has also brought on new designers and collaborators to help move our projects in exciting new directions.

As our business has grown, an opportunity to collaborate with APDW has blossomed from the decade’s long relationship between Piper von Chamier and April Phillips. APDW is an award-winning landscape architecture firm and sustainable planning firm originating in the Bay Area. Known for its focus on urban ecology, sustainable practices, and urban agriculture, APDW has been a leader in promoting the SITES initiative and climate-positive design.

As we unite our firms to explore new creative endeavors, our capacity to cultivate an inspirational environment and innovative culture will only grow, as will our ability to build stronger relationships through Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.
